Student and Parent Rights - 504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 Student and Parent Rights

Section 504 protects all individuals with disabilities – students, staff, parents, and the public. This publication addresses Section 504 as it affects students in public schools.

Special Education Services

The NCESD assists local school districts in providing Special Education services for students.Services include, but are not limited to:

• Training/monthly Special Services Team meetings

• Special Education Child Count/Child Find services

• IDEA administration

• SEAS Software package

• Unfunded mandated programs through HDESD

• Special education testing materials and administration

• Direct service providers

• Tuition support for licensed providers
